LCEA School Calendar Survey for the 2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR

There are links to the three sample calendars below. These proposed calendars are the result of surveys taken over the past three years.

Ø      Option #1 is a traditional school year with a late start (after Labor Day.) The first day for students would be Tuesday 09/08/09 and the last day would be Friday 06/18/10. Ø      Option #2 is a traditional school year with an early start (before Labor Day) is similar to the calendar adopted this current school year (2008-2009) and follows School Board Policy. The first day for students would be Monday 08/31/09 and the last day would be Friday 06/11/10. Ø      Option #3 is an extra early start (August.) The first day for students would be Monday 08/24/08 and the last day would be Friday 06/04/10. (New Teachers begin on Monday 08/17/09, Returning Teachers begin on Wednesday 08/19/09.)

Note: All three calendars include a full two-week Winter/Christmas Break (No school from 12/19/09 – 01/03/10) and one full week for Spring/Easter Break (No School from 04/03/10 – 04/11/10.)

Please vote either Yes or No for each of the three options.

Article 6-4-1 of the negotiated agreement states:

“On or before March 1 of each year, the Association may develop a school calendar for the following year. The Association may submit the calendar to the District for its consideration.”

We have also included three Advisory Questions to present to the School Board. Details on the three Advisory Questions can be found on your ballot. (Members can obtain their ballot from their Building Rep.)
